I knew by the number of Hurt Locker nominations that it would take the grand prize. I still need to see HL sometime.

If Up wasn't nominated the same year as a movie directed by a FEMALE...

I say HL won the same reason Obama won the 2008 election: people want to make history.

Jah, ist gut. Hurt Locker winning is coo' with me, it was my #6; the Academy and I are not usually anywhere near being on the same page, but this year they were pretty good with their choices.

I'm actually glad that The Hurt Locker won Best Picture (even though I haven't seen it). I mean, I would've loved to see Up win Best Picture, but I was happy to see a movie directed by a woman win; seriously, when was the last time that actually happened?!  lol

Besides, Up won Best Animated Film and Best Original Score, so I'm happy.  Smiley

The answer is never. Until this year, no woman-directed films had ever won Best Picture, and no woman had ever won Best Director.

As a member of the United States Armed Forces... I have this to say about "The Hurt Locker"..... FUCK THAT SHIT! IT'S GARBAGE! It sucks and a guy like that would get his soldiers killed if he acted like that in Iraq or Afghanistan.
